Important Notification from Strike Commission of Canton and
Hongkong.
At our request the Government has allowed us to send representatives to take part in examination of Special Transport Permits. We sympathise with the hardship of the merchants who are our fellow-countrymen, and have
instructed our representatives who take part in the Examina- tion Commission, to sign and pass any goods which are not
contrary to the under-mentioned rules, excepting goods of
which Government has a menopoly or which are prohibited. To have also ordered our Detection Service and the Cargo Boatmen's Union to allow the unloading and transportation of any goods passed. Our Commission Unly sends representa- times to the Special Permita Examination Commission. It
will not issue any separate wu chizo" er permit. The rules for examination are as below:-
(1) Applications for Special Permite to take delivery of goods, except kerosene oil and the like, left in Shameen
or any foreign godown My our merchants in the City, shall
be dealt with as follows;-
(z) Goode in any British godown which are not British produce and were purchased by any non-British merchant, may be delivered at any time within 10 days from this date.
(b) Goods which are stored in non-British gedowns and are not British produce, will be allowed delivery at
any time.
(2) Special permits will be issued for any non-British
goods which do not come by British steamers or via Hongkong
or Macao. Any goods for which Special Permits have been
obtained, will be allowed to be unloaded and removed.
